Tranggana : stars
Legend has it that the truntum motif was created by Queen Kencana, wife of Sunan Paku Buwana III, who felt neglected due to the King’s infidelity. One night before performing her prayers, she was mesmerised by the stars in the dark sky. This inspired her to create a batik motif of the stars to forget her loneliness. The king noticed his wife’s creation and was amazed by its perfection, causing his love for her to blossom again, making the truntum a symbol of budding or reawakened love.
